How it works here

An open beach break shaped in part by the jetty at the adjacent harbor, which can focus and sharpen the peaks near its northern end while the rest of the beach stays a more typical, spread-out beach break. Like most of the Portuguese coast, it takes broad SW-to-NW Atlantic swell.

Best season

Rideable year-round; autumn through spring brings the biggest, most consistent swell, summer is smaller and warmer, and busiest given the beach's proximity to a major city.

A solid, consistent city wave to build real skills on, with the harbor jetty's more focused peaks offering a step up when conditions allow.

The jetty peaks can hold decent size and shape on a good swell — a respectable local wave without leaving Porto's city limits.
